First Game Field Guide

From a Character idea
to the streets of Potham.

Follow the main route to prepare a playable Character and begin a game. Take the side routes only when you want to create your own cards instead of using existing collections.

Main route · Build

Create the Core Character

Open the Character Card Creator. Define the Character’s identity, movement, Health, Tactical dice, and RPG dice. When the card is ready, Export JSON to save the Character record. Export the PNG too if you want a printable card.

You leave with: a saved Character JSON file.

02

Main route · Add the gameworld

Create the Character’s Mod Card

Open the Character Mod Card Creator, select the mod used by the Character, and add that mod’s traits, conditions, special rules, and abilities. Export JSON when finished; the mod card remains a separate saved record from the Core Character.

You leave with: a saved Character Mod JSON file.

03

Main route · Prepare

Assemble and save the Loadout

In Loadout Manager, import the saved Core Character and Character Mod card. Add equipment and supplies from the available collections, assign attachments and storage, and confirm the carried items.

The export from this step is specifically a Loadout. That term matters: a Loadout packages the Character, mod cards, equipment, assignments, and point totals for play.

You leave with: one saved Loadout JSON file per Character.

04

Main route · Play

Load the game into the Dashboard

The Dashboard brings the pieces prepared in the earlier steps together. Complete these three checkpoints in order.

04.1

Import the Player Loadout(s)

Import the Loadout JSON file or files for every participating Character. Each Loadout adds its Core Character, mod card, carried equipment, assignments, and saved point totals.

Check: every participating Character has a tab on the Play screen.

04.2

Import and set up the NPCs

Open the NPC tab, import the NPC cards required by the mission, and set the number of each NPC present. NPC groups and individual Health are then tracked with the saved game state.

Check: every starting NPC group has the correct count.

04.3

Run the game from the Dashboard

Add the Event cards required by the mission and set the starting Danger level. During play, use the Rules & Turn Reference for phase order, the Danger Tracker for escalating pressure, and the embedded dice tools for combat and checks.

You are ready when: Player Loadouts, NPC groups, Events, and the starting Danger level are all present.
